For a second year in a row we are delighted to welcome to Quinta do Lago the student golfers from the National University of Ireland at Maynooth. These are young golfers on the Padraig Harrington Golf Scholarship who are here in the Algarve for a week of winter training. Some of the team will be playing on Wednesday in the Men’s Day ‘betterball’ competition. From the look of their twitter feed (right) they are also quite excited to be here in the sunshine and giving recognition to CGQL for allowing them to use some of our Member times!

6th placed team (out of a total of 32 teams) were CGQL members Jane Reason, Jane Beale, Diana Mucklow & David Wettlaufer.

Our congratulations to Laurie & Nicola Raper and Martin Burns who teamed up with Austrian professional Jack Eckardt to come 2nd in the Algarve Charity Pro-Am 2017 competition last week (unfortunately no picture) . Despite getting the best Stableford score on their final round, they came up short by 1 point, totalling 332 points. The competition, which was held over 4 rounds on 4 different courses, invited competitors to enjoy playing the North and South courses as well as Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo. Other CGQL members who played in the competition included  Sian Stonehill and John Farrell whose team came in 5th place with 327 points, just beating the girls, pictured above, who scored 326 points.
