Irish eyes are smilin’

On Sunday the Club celebrated another St.Patrick’s Day. 108 players set out in the morning to play an AM AM Stableford around the South Course. They were then joined by a further 22 revelers for the famous St.Patrick’s Day celebrations. These kicked off with a halfway house staffed by Kieran Duggan, Dara Lenehan, Maureen Haigh and Phil O’Connell, where smoked salmon washed down with Jameson’s or Bailey’s was on offer. This was followed by Brian Parker serving the draft Guinness on entry into the clubhouse. The Captain acted, as is his custom, as ‘master of ceremonies’ for the lunch, where prizes were given to the winners of the golf. Two teams registered 85 points, which was good enough for runners-up positions, but the winners were Philip & Carolyn Cort together with Michael Roberts and Brian Cusack who scored 87 points. Once again the Irish put on a wonderful day for all who attended. Thanks must go to the many members who sponsored and helped organise the event, and especially to Donald & Maeve Dempsey, and Aileen Hickey who coordinated it all.
