The Captain leads his team to success

Sunday winners: Orla & David O’Donohoe, Sue Pearson & Patrick Macklin

We had 24 players take the floor today for a Sunday morning Regressive Waltz. The weather was very changeable, not the Algarvian sunshine we are used to. The lady Captain reports that her team players were ‘4 stepping’ it well until the back nine (the team being Matt O´Driscoll, Mark Till and Maryln Poynter – thanks to Matt and Mark for standing in today). Everyone enjoyed today´s format, just nice for a Sunday. The winning team were: Patrick Macklin, David and Orla O´Donohoe and Sue Pearson with a great score of 86 points. The runners up with a score of 84 were Dan and Roz Morrissey, Denise Grayson and David Allsop, scoring the same as Philippa and Bryon Clancey and Ian and Christine Williams who dropped into 3rd place on countback.

Begg and Jenkinson win Stableford

A large field of forty four members played in the April Men’s Singles Stableford on Quinta North on Wednesday.  Conditions were sunny and the temperature was perfect for playing golf.  The pace of play was slow.  Members are urged not to permit gaps between members groups, and, when gaps do occur, play ‘ready golf’ to ensure that gaps are closed as soon as possible. Division II was won by John Jenkinson with 42 points.  Division II runners up was Sean O’Neill with 41 points followed by David Haigh in third with 38 points. Division 1 Was won by David Begg with 39 points. David also secured the best gross prize with his gross Stableford score of 29 points.  Division 1 runner up was Keith Collins with 37.  Third went to Peter Beale with 35 points.

Ladies Stableford won by Val Harrison and Pam Duggan

We had 27 ladies for the Ladies Single Stableford competition today on the South Course on Tuesday. It was also an opportunity for the Ladies to start their Eclectic Competition. Winners today were Val Harrison 40 points (Division 1) and Pamela Duggan also scoring 40 points (Division 2). Runners-up in the respective divisions, Diana Mucklow and Lisa King, both scored 39 points. Nearest the Pin winners were Val Harrison and Svetlana Lavery.

Tree clearance work on the Golf Courses

We are introducing a temporary local rule to allow free relief if your ball comes to rest in those areas affected by the tree clearance operations as follows: “Any cut down trees, tree stumps, tree branches & debris associated with the ongoing tree clearance on the course are deemed to be GUR.”
